Matt Wood is a singer-songwriter and composer from Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began at age 15, singing and playing guitar on stages up and down world-famous Beale Street. Before turning 20, he released 2 EP’s and 1 LP as the lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter for the Memphis-based band Perspective. Three of the band’s singles were featured on episodes of NBC’s The Voice, The Travel Channel, and Bravo, establishing his reputation as a multi-faceted musician and artist within the industry.
From 2016 to 2018, Wood was hired as the touring lead guitarist for solo country artist J.R. Moore.
As a solo artist himself, Wood wrote, produced, mixed, and released 3 singles under the moniker “M.Wood” in 2021.
Shifting inspirational gears, Wood was tapped as the Music Director for “Graceland, too”, an original play written by Nico Hughes and directed by Maxx Reed.
Wood wrote and recorded the original delta blues-themed score in Memphis prior to Graceland, too's theatrical debut at the 2022 New York Theatre Festival. Leading up to the premiere, Matt worked with the actors to help sculpt their musical performances, ensuring that the actors' performances came through with authenticity and conviction to the characters in the world of the production.

Inspired by the true story of Paul MacLeod and his Elvis home museum, this play highlights the Holly Springs, Mississippi tourist attraction "Graceland Too" and dives into the mystery surrounding its tragic end. A Deep South folklore story, Graceland Too brings to life southern traditions, blues music, and what it means to live in the shadows of fame.
